Fire Department Visit
October is Fire Prevention Month. That’s when the fire department visits our center and shows off their fire trucks and equipment. How exciting! Our curriculum features lots of learning activities about safety and the responsibilities of our first responders.
Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences
Meet with the teachers and discuss your child’s developmental progress. This is the perfect time to exchange observations and assessments, set developmental goals or just ask questions. Conference schedules will be posted two weeks in advance to ensure every parent gets a convenient time slot.
Pumpkin Patch Field Trip
We leave the classroom and spend a day at a farm, enjoy a hayride, pumpkin painting, slides and more! We need many chaperones to be able to make this field trip a success - what a great way to earn Helping Hands Points!
Halloween Parade & Parties
Trick or treat is the motto as our children parade in and around the center in their favorite costumes. Family members are welcome to join the parade and participate in the classroom parties afterwards.
Annual Parent Meeting
Do you know that ImagiNation Learning Center is governed by a Board that is comprised of volunteering parents? At the Annual Parent Meeting each board member presents information about a different aspect of the center operations including the financial status of the company, program initiatives and curriculum, staff appreciation and development, family survey results, and fundraising efforts. This event offers a great opportunity to see the ILC Board in action, especially if you are interested in joining the Board.
Fall Picture Day
In November, we hire a professional photographer to take pictures of individual children and a group picture of each class. We accommodate sibling pictures too. Wear your best and don’t forget to bring your smile!
We invite you to join us for our traditional Thanksgiving Feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, pies, and more! Bring your family and friends and enjoy this special day right in your child’s classroom.
Holiday Classroom Parties
At the end of our curriculum week ‘Celebrations Around the World”, we invite our families to join us in the classroom to celebrate the holiday season in our own special way. Party food, fun games and gift giving may be happening in your room - see your child’s teacher for more details!
Board Nominations and Elections (December-January)
At the turn of the year, we are looking for additional parents that are interested in serving on the Board. Did you know that you can earn all Helping Hands Points by being an active member on our Board? Nominations are distributed in December and elections will be held in January. What a great way to be involved in your child’s early education!
Dental Health Month
February is Dental Health Month and we have an entire week dedicated to check out our teeth. In playful and creative ways, we will learn about the importance of brushing, flossing and good eating habits that keep our teeth healthy. Of course, we will have a dentist come visit our classrooms to show us how to do it just right.
Valentine’s Day Parties
What a great way to celebrate our friends and those we love! Each teaching team organizes their own unique classroom party. Valentine’s card exchanges, friendship songs and games, ‘hearty’ art activities, and some yummy treats will be part of the classroom festivities.
Winter In-Service Day
On President’s Day the entire ImagiNation Learning Center Staff participate in a full day of training and development. Health and safety, communication and customer service, developmentally appropriate interactions and learning environments are some of the main training topics of ImagiNation Learning Center’s professional development day.
Kindergarten Open House
We invite all families that are interested in learning about our own private kindergarten program to this informational evening event. You will have the opportunity to explore the curriculum, become familiar with kindergarten schedules and routines, and ask questions about anything that is on your mind concerning the transition of your youngster to a kindergartener.
Family Satisfaction Surveys
We start out the new school year by surveying our families about their level of satisfaction about our services, programs and curriculum. We like to hear from our customers what we are doing well and what we can improve. Our online surveys take less than 15 minutes to complete. Let us know what you think.
Dr. Seuss Birthday
Reading is fun! That’s the message our children receive throughout Dr. Seuss Birthday Week and the national event “Read Across America”. The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and There is a Wocket in my Pocket are the inspirations for lots of fun classroom activities.
Spring Picture Day
In March we have our professional photographer come back to the center to take another set of pictures of each child. It is amazing how much they can grow within just a few months. “Say Cheese!”
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
Once again it’s party time at ImagiNation Learning Center! Each classroom will celebrate in their own special way through games, fun activities and party treats. Wear green or you may be pinched!
Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences (April)
Another round of conferences is scheduled in April to discuss the developmental progress of your child. Find out how many new words your toddler has picked up recently. Look at the art portfolio of your two-year old. What seems to be your preschooler’s most favorite learning activity? Are there any differences between home and school? All that and more can be discussed during your one-on-one time with the teacher.
In April, we administer the TerraNova, a standardized achievement test to the children enrolled in our kindergarten program. Although this test is not mandatory, we believe it is a good way of measuring academic performances in reading, writing and mathematics. You receive a copy of your child’s test results and meet with your teacher to discuss them in more detail.
Teacher Appreciation Week
We love our teachers and want them to know it! Special lunches, surprise gifts and thank you notes are shared with our teachers this week. Make it fun for your child’s teachers and show them how much they are appreciated!
Our centers participate in the nationwide service, Ident-A-Kid that provides Immediate Response Child Rescue Identification cards. For a small fee, you can sign up to obtain an ID card that includes your child’s picture, name, address, eye and hair color, weight, birthday and fingerprint. Watch for forms to be placed in our lobby as the date gets closer!
Muffins With Mom
On Friday before Mother’s Day we provide muffins and juice during morning drop off to honor our wonderful moms and celebrate their accomplishments. Make sure you have a few extra minutes this morning to share a special snack with your little one.
Please join us for our annual picnic at the park. The Board of Directors organizes and sponsors this special event to celebrate our wonderful ImagiNation staff, families and friends. It’s a Saturday afternoon filled with fun games, art activities, great conversations, delicious food and a raffle!
Donuts with Dad
Come in and celebrate Father’s Day by sharing a delicious donut with your child. Donuts and juice will be available from 6:30 – 9:00 in your child’s classroom. Happy Father’s Day!
Re-registration for Enrolled Families (July)
We are looking forward to another great year! In July, we ask you to re-register your child to reserve a spot for the next school year. With your re-registration fee your child will receive a new ImagiNation Tote Bag and T-shirt.
Did you know about our summer fitness program that is included in your child’s tuition? As part of our curriculum, all children ages two and older will participate in a bi-weekly exercise program that promotes cooperation, gross motor, and coordination skills. Let’s keep it moving and have fun!
Summer In-service Day
On the third Friday in August we close the centers for our second In-Service Day of the year. Usually, our teachers receive training during the first half of the day, while the entire afternoon is devoted to deep cleaning and re-organizing the classrooms. Please make alternate child care arrangements for this day!
